Saeid Shabani was born into a rural family in a small village in Iran, specifically in the Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari provinces. His father worked as a farmer, while his mother took care of the household. From a young age, Saeid was involved in farming alongside his father. He attended a school with a tin roof in his village and completed his primary and secondary education there. Despite not being wealthy, Saeid’s parents had big dreams for him and believed in his potential for success. They instilled in him the belief that one doesn’t need to be rich to achieve their goals.

After finishing high school, Saeid’s life took a series of ups and downs. He initially enrolled in an Industrial Electricity course in his hometown, but before he could pursue a professional career, he had to fulfill his military service in the navy force in Tehran. Once he completed his military service, he found a job in electrical engineering while also assisting his father on the farm. Although things were going well, Saeid still felt unsatisfied with his achievements thus far. Consequently, he decided to change his path and returned to his high school field of study, social science.

This decision led him to enroll in the newly established Faculty of Law at Islamic Azad University, Borujen branch, with the aim of pursuing a legal career. Even as an undergraduate student, Saeid went the extra mile by traveling long distances from his home to participate in various additional training courses to enhance his education. Some of these courses included:

1. Introductory course on international commercial arbitration (Arbitration Center of Iran Chamber)
2. Advanced International Commercial Arbitration Course (Arbitration Center of Iran Chamber)
3. Workshop on writing arbitration opinions (Arbitration Center of Iran Chamber)

Upon graduating, many of his peers were admitted to the same university for their master’s degrees. However, fate took a turn for Saeid and led him to a mysterious land thousands of kilometers away from his home. Despite the abundance of information available on the internet about education and life in Europe, Canada, and the United States, there was limited knowledge about China due to language barriers and a lack of information. Saeid saw this as an opportunity, as the scarcity of experts in the area meant there was ample space for young people to fill the gap. Overcoming these challenges, Saeid secured admission to Xiamen University in China to pursue a master’s degree in Chinese commercial and civil law.

As the first Iranian student studying Chinese commercial and civil law at the master’s level, Saeid dedicated himself not only to his university courses but also to learning the Chinese language earnestly. This commitment allowed him to better communicate with Chinese professors and people, as well as gain deeper insights into the country’s culture and art.

Building on his success at Xiamen University, Saeid set his sights on Shanghai Jiaotong University, one of the top universities in China. After receiving admission offers from prestigious institutions such as Peking University, the University of British Columbia, and Columbia University in the United States, Saeid chose to enter Shanghai Jiaotong University’s Law School (Koguan Law School). This decision further emphasized his pioneering achievements in Chinese academia.

While pursuing his doctoral degree, Saeid had the opportunity to teach American business law at Shanghai Normal University for two consecutive years. This experience held immense value for an Iranian student specializing in Chinese trade law, as it provided a unique and rare opportunity to impart knowledge on American trade law to Chinese students. Teaching in this context enriched Saeid’s academic journey and broadened his perspective.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Saeid took advantage of the presence of the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, affiliated with Shanghai Jiaotong University. He engaged in teaching within the institute’s classrooms, combining his financial acumen with his legal expertise. This integration of knowledge in areas such as market research, business management, and project development expanded Saeid’s proficiency in the field of financial law.

During this time, Saeid established his own consulting company called Shanghai Huaixun Business Consultancy. The company aimed to offer legal and business services to Iranian entrepreneurs operating in both Iran and China. Saeid collaborated with the Iran-China Chamber of Commerce, publishing the Iranian investment law in Chinese, Persian, and English languages. He also organized legal meetings in partnership with Chinese law firms and conducted contract writing training workshops for esteemed members of the chamber. In recognition of his contributions, Saeid was elected as the Secretary of the Legal Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, allowing him to provide even more comprehensive services to his fellow compatriots in the business community.

Furthermore, leveraging his extensive knowledge and experience in the international business environment and financial matters, Saeed Shabani established a collaboration with Shanghai TRSD Capital Company. This partnership allowed him to expand beyond legal activities into the realm of financial services. Shanghai TRSD Capital, a Chinese-American investment company, specializes in assisting Chinese companies in entering the US Nasdaq stock market. Saeid gained invaluable experience in this domain, advising companies on entering the American stock market through his consulting work in collaboration with their American partner, Network 1 Financial. With its office located in the Shanghai Tower, the company’s close relationships with prominent Chinese companies facilitated its connection with major international financial players in China.

Driven by his unwavering commitment to his motherland, Saeid never forgot his roots. He dedicated himself to assisting the Iranian embassy in New Delhi, handling their legal issues and providing invaluable support. However, Saeid’s passion for making a difference extended far beyond legal matters.

During his visits to his hometown and his experiences in the family farm, Saeid became acutely aware of the agricultural challenges faced by his community. He witnessed the rapid development of the agriculture industry in India and realized that Indian and Chinese technology could revolutionize farming practices in Iran. Inspired by this vision, in 2019, Saeid established his family-owned company called Sino Persian Agriculture in Iran. The company focused on exporting high-quality Iranian agricultural products, leveraging his hometown’s position as one of the top 10 producers of almonds globally. Additionally, Saeid took the initiative to import Indian and Chinese hybrid seeds, revolutionizing the agricultural landscape in Iran.

As Saeid’s Ph.D. graduation approached, he planned a holiday to celebrate the Chinese New Year in Iran before returning to China to resume his business ventures. Little did he know that this trip marked the end of his Asian chapter and the beginning of an exciting new chapter in North America.

Saeid worked for the Chinese embassy in Iran and the Iranian embassy in Beijing, while also contributing as an active scholar in the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative. Upon his arrival in Canada, Saeid witnessed the rapid advancements in technology and artificial intelligence across various industries. Inspired by this, he conceived the idea of establishing a consulting company that leverages artificial intelligence technology to deliver efficient, precise, and cost-effective services to clients. With his past entrepreneurial experiences and passion for innovation, he officially founded his first startup named Smart Immigration in Montreal.

Smart Immigration is a cutting-edge technology-driven company that harnesses the power of artificial intelligence and software algorithms to provide efficient, precise, and cost-effective immigration services to its clientele. Building on his success with Smart Immigration and drawing upon his extensive network in China and his expertise in international trade, Saeid partnered with a Toronto-based company called DFS International Trading to establish a new retail company in Canada. The new venture, called FurryMates, focuses on importing pet toys from China to Canada and facilitating the export of Canadian pet products to Asia, particularly China, bridging the gap between Asia and North America.
